Sound Issue on Dell 1420 using Vista

If for some reason you can’t hear a thing on your Dell 1420 after resuming from hibernate or after restarting, you may be having a driver issue.

This is what happened with one of the Dell laptop that we’re using. The work is to just install the an updated driver which you can get at Dell FTP site.
