Yesterday, mella alerted me regarding her laptop acting weird. It keep triggering a virus alert while visiting one of her favorite site, houseonahill.net. She confirmed that only this site triggered the alert. I told her to reboot the laptop and try again. I keep thinking that this might be the effect of a heuristic configuration I set a few days ago.
After she rebooted the laptop, she tried again but the alert is still there. I tried it on one of my sandbox (virtual) machine and this is what I got:
*Worm alert on houseonahill.net
I visited the site again using Flock, a Firefox variant, IE, Google Chrome and got the same result. I told mella to inform Connie Veneracion, the owner of the said site.
After midnight, we got a reply from Connie and she confirmed about worm. She also added that she’s aware about it and working to resolve the issue.
I checked again today and it seems that the issue has been fixed. The thing is there was no mention on what happened. I guess the users should be informed specially the site has a heavy user traffic and having a Google PR 5 rating.
Point to add: Avast detected the worm but Symantec 360 did not. I forgot to try using Firefox and NoScript plugin just to test the effectiveness of the plugin.
