After clicking download and have selected the file save destination or have selected "run", it will start to initialize and then just stops and the message pop’s everytime you tried to run the install process.

You may have downloaded DirectX Web installer (dxwebsetup.exe), around 296 KB and it is NOT working at the moment.

As an alternative action, you need to download DirectX End-User Runtimes. It is a redistributable package, around 86.3 MB and usually named in the format DirectX Redist (<Month> <Year>). Get the latest version.

This is a Run-Time UPDATE. It doesn’t matter if you have a DirectX 10 or not. Most Run Time updates apply to all versions of windows.

These updates add developer features, fix bug and tweak builds of a DirectX and all of its functions. It’s not a major revisions of DirectX and only affect the features and function of DirectX Run-Time files.

The files are used at run time by applications to interface with DirectX and the hardware layer. Windows update typically only carries major revisions of DirectX and not run-time updates. Updates are often pushed out every monthly.

Most of the latest games incorporate the latest DirectX technology. You may need to resort this kind of update if you encounter an issue with a recent game.
